Guatemala is located to the north of the Central American isthmus. Geological formations, relief, climate and soils combine in a great ecological diversity which allots it special characteristics. The official language is Spanish; however, there are 22 vernacular languages that are part of the country’s cultural patrimony. Guatemala is a Democratic Constitutional Republic. Because of its privileged geographic position, bordering the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, Guatemala is a strategic point within the international trade context.
